Broadstairs defeat Sandwich to reach last 8 of Kent T20 Competition

Broadstairs recorded a memorable victory against a strong Sandwich side at the Butts to reach the last 8 of the county T20 tournament. Having lost the toss and invited to bat, Broadstairs posted a total of 168 which featured a 3rd wicket partnership of 88 between Elliot Fox (66) and Harry Carter (34). Additional runs from Jack Wheeler (14), Jamie Dewell (20) and Chris Kidd (12) provided the basis for a tense 2nd half.

Sandwich started strongly but the Frewin brothers were a match for their batting with Oliver finishing with figures of 2-24 and Matthew 2-33. Additional wickets were shared amongst Chris Kidd, Jamie Dewell and 2 wickets late on for Harry Carter, one of which featured an extraordinary catch by Sam Winsor. By the end of the 20 overs, Sandwich were 152-9, 17 runs shy of the target.

In the next round, Broadstairs face either Hartley or Tenterden (away), date tbc.
