Broadstairs climbed to 5th spot in the championship after a comprehensive victory at home to bottom-of-the-table Linden Park. The visitors won the toss and chose to bat first but soon found themselves in trouble at 25-3 in the 7th over. Wickets continued to fall at a steady rate and with just under 10 overs still remaining, Linden Park were all out for just 119. Much of the early damage was at the hands of Chris Kidd’s bowling who finished with figures of 4-18 from 10 overs, Alex Hogben and Jay Basu taking two catches each. The tail was cleaned-up by an excellent spell from Freddie Corner who finished with a season’s best 4-6 from 6.1 overs.
Broadstairs made light work of the reply with Basu 77 from 58 balls and Benfield 24 from 16 balls scoring the lion’s share of the 123 runs scored in just 18.5 overs to complete the 7-wicket win.
Next week Broadstairs make the short trip up to Whitstable where they will be hoping to reverse the narrow defeat they suffered in the corresponding home fixture earlier in the season.
